Better Film Of All Time

This is the better film of all time with Brazil.

How could this be rated 6.5(when we see a crap as dark knight is number 1, we can have doubts on public on imdb, if they are not silly morons)?

The Marocco mood is absolutely fantastic.. Malkovich fever scenes are one of the best of cinema.

A classic.

While Dark Knight may not deserve to be number one, saying it is crap makes it really difficult to take you seriously. They are both good movies but both suffer from the same problem: they're both too long. The difference is that Dark Knight doesn't feel nearly as long as this one did. Anyway, they really should not be compared as they are two completely different kinds of movies.

dark knight is crap

No such thing as too long movie, only too short. If the movie is good it will never feel too long. Best proof: lord of the ring series.

I'm sorry man but I hate this movie. I've read the book, which I felt was amazing, but the movie was just crap. I love John Malkovich but he was terrible in this movie. The actors had no chemistry at all. The great parts of this film was definitely the cinematography but that was about it. Just stating my opinion.

It's OK, it's called denial.
This is why you need to state "just stating my opinion"
It's OK, you'll get over it within a few years.

With Brazil I don't know, but I agree it is one of the best films ever made.
This is not obvious for just any audience.
It has a fate like an ancient Greek story about an initiative journey where arrogant "civilized" people will lose their life (him) or their soul (her). You don't mess around with the Sahara.
One of the masterpieces, the best film this director ever made.

reply

It's a masterpiece, but it's a difficult film, so...

Paul Bowles is a great writer and this film has its moments. I don't think it's a masterpiece or even a great film but it is an interesting treatment of the novel. It's just that Bowles is an impossible act to follow. As for brilliant camera work, especially the scenes in the dessert, are spectacular. Malkovitch is good but not at his very best. But in fairness, his character is supposed to apathetic, desperately looking for a life.

reply

This adaptation is incomprehensible nonsense compared to Bowles' novel. I gave it 4/10 but if I can't set aside my indignation soon, I may change that to 3/10 stars.

I liked the movie, which I saw before I read the book, many years ago. Interesting film, beautiful scenery.
