The movie

This is an intriguing and intelligent horror movie, and I have fond memories of it. Unfortunately this film also seems to be quite obscure, despite magazines like Fangoria and Starburst championing it when it was first released on video. It's a shame it doesn't enjoy cult status.

I too consider this immensely enjoyable and imaginative movie to be both entertaining and underrated. It's a great deal of fun with a novel plot, excellent cast (Peter Riegert is great as a profane, irascible homicide detective), a nifty beast, and a rousing score by David Newman. I own a used VHS copy and keep hoping it would get an official DVD release already.

I'm watching it right now on YouTube. I watched it a number of times when it showed up on HBO in the early Nineties, but I haven't seen it on the cable movie lineup since or even on network offerings. I'm on Part 3 right now, and it's like watching a new film because I actually recall very little about this movie for some reason. I know it usually depends on what was going on in my life at that time as to how vividly I recall a movie.

I'm just happy to have found it to watch again and hope it won't be taken down for a while, as I likely will watch it a couple of times more to fix it in my memory.

It's not the greatest movie ever but I enjoyed it. Joan Severance was gorgeous as always. Peter Riegert was very hilarious and Alexander Godunov was awesome
