Why did the Old Man permit Faxx to carry on with what she was doing?

Considering that Faxx caused dozens of deaths and lots of property damage with her choice of putting a deranged drug lord's brain into a giant mecha suit, why would the Old Man of OCP go along with it and permit her to continue?

Considering that they left together, I get the impression they were having an affair together. I suppose they were off for one last "session" before the ax fell on her, hard.

He doesn’t. Just before walking off with her, he secretly agrees to blame the entire disaster on her with his two chiefs, then lies to her face saying ‘everything will be just fine’ and walking her out for, presumably, a blow job before he sends her to prison.
