Being Robocop 2, this movie gets compared to Robocop 1. The first was a very good movie, with a mean villain, clever plot and interesting characters.
Robocop 2 reuses a lot of the ideas from Robocop, but it fails to use them properly.
For example, in Robocop 1, Murphy walks into a trap, and is tortured by Clarence and his gang, remember "give the man a hand" scene? In Robocop 2 this scene is copied, Robocop walks into a trap and is caught with the magnet and then tortured with drils and saws. But with his robotic body, Murphy doesn't feel pain whatever they do to him so the scene just doesn't have the same impact.
Another example is with Robos directives. In the first movie, the directives, and especially the secret Directive 4 are an important part of the plot. Robocop 2 also uses the directives, but just for some silly jokes. And once Robo erases his directives they no longer have any significance.
I could give more examples, but I hope I already made my opinion clear. Robocop feels like a bad remake of Robocop 1.
