I haven't smoked in 10 years and it made me want to light up, too. It'd probably taste terrible if I really had one, now, but all you tend to remember are the good aspects of smoking, when an ex-smoker "reminisces." We forget about the crappy parts, like waking up in the middle of the night having a coughing fit, or that feeling like you've constantly got phlegm in your lungs...
I didn't do it very often, but I HAVE smoked while eating simultaneously, especially if the break I was on was pressed for time. It reminded me of that when I watched Glen Close smoking while eating her ice cream sundae! My thought was, "ugh, how could I have done that?!"
My husband hasn't smoked for even longer than me, and every once in a while he'll smell a cigarette waft right after someone just lit up, and he'll say, "mmmm, doesn't that smell good?" I'm glad I quit, and I'm a LOT healthier for it, but I actually sorta miss smoking in some ways, and being young enough to not have to care about my health.
