A Tale of Two Movies- Possible Spoilers!

I thought the pre-"Revenge" part of the movie was very well done. Once they left the burning cabin it completely fell apart. Why would they bother to drag Costner out of the cabin if they wanted to kill him?
The bad guys he wants to kill all happen to show up so Costner has virtually no searching to do.
The language issue was also very poorly dealt with. Why would Stowe and Quinn be speaking in English to each other when they are alone?
All in all, quite disappointing in my view.
