Poor pooch
The pooch didn't deserve to get it like that.
shareI know. That was the worst part of the whole movie!
shareI know! I hated that! Poor doggie.
shareit always baffles me when people get shot and killed left and right and all people complain about are on-screen deaths of animals like dogs. A sign of a degenerated society, perhaps?

You're right. People get killed every day, yet the world mourned Cecil the lion. I guess one thing, especially in this movie, is that the dog was innocent. He was about the only innocent character in this movie, aside from the man who saved Cochran. For a while, I thought it wasn't safe to be an animal in a Kevin Costner movie, lol- in Dances with Wolves, his horse and the wolf get killed too!
sharePeople react this way, because most dogs are purely good natured creatures who mean well, whereas humans are more flawed and more violent. Doesn't mean dogs are more important than humans, but it means that they are associated with being a human's best friend, ever loving, so it can be sadder to watch a dog die on film than watching a human.
shareAnd it was too graphic. Those particular kinds of scenes are usually heard and not seen. Like you hear the shot and then the yelp and then that's it. But nope they had to go all in on that one. Not cool.
sharePeople are also more able to protect themselves from other people. Animals do not have that ability. So that's why we care more about the dog.
shareBecause animals are innocent dummy.
sharewhat a great pup! 🐶
