Since Taran Wanderer 2 ONLY seems to post on LIMITED boards...
...and this sequel, which he hates isn't one of them...
LET'S BASH 'IM!!!!
Now, I'll agree with him that, this sequel is pretty damn weak and forgettable. I much prefer "The Rescuers", and, no, not because of those *beep* Margery Sharp novels, which he just can't resist a mention, but no one else really cares, 'cause NO ONE ELSE LIKES THOSE STUPID BOOKS! I, myself, barely got through book 2 in the series ("Miss Bianca") and even that was pretty weak. "Patience" in that book was NOTHING like Penny!!! Penny was a cute, sweet, adorable little girl; Patience was a raggedy wrinkled, undersized grandma!!! They said she was EIGHT??? HA!!! She looked more like she was 80!!!!!
And even Madame Medusa, who was rather atrocious in the movie, still managed to be likable and hammy; her book counterpart, the Diamond Duchess, had a face that could literally KILL YOU jut by GLANCING at it. But, hey! If gorgeous Penny shamed Medusa's so-so looks by quite a few miles, than it's only appropriate that not even Patience's ugliness could top the Duchess's.
Oh, and did I mention that Patience doesn't get forced into treasure-seeking? Instead, she merely scrubs the palace's diamond walls, 'til her hands fall off, and prick her fingers on the Duchess's wig until they (her fingers) bleed. What a BORING thing to be rescued from!!! Even Penny's situation of swimming in a sea cave, and almost drowning, sounds like TONS of fun compared to Patience's bore. Not that I could really feel sorry for an ugly, wrinkly old grandmama, anyways.
Let's see... what else can we jab him about?
Oh, yes!!! While "Alice in Wonderland" IS undeniably one of the weakest Disney films between 1937 and 1981, "The Jungle Book" and "Robin Hood" (especially the former) are most certainly NOT!!! They're fun, whimsical, entertaining, you got it! "The Jungle Book", in particular, has amazing songs, great character development and an interesting Indian jungle setting, complete with awesome animal characters, complete with PERSONALITY!!!
Last but not least, the "classic" age at Disney TRULY ended with "The Fox and the Hound" in 1981 (1977 was a great year for Disney, but it continued on for a few additional years, if you ask me). It was the last film any of the Nine Old Men (in this case, the final three, Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnston and Wolfgang Reitherman) worked on, and had a lot of sentimental value, and was the last animated feature under Walt Disney PRODUCTIONS, before MICHAEL EISNER took over the company and caused everyone to call him the devil, and allegedly turn Disney into an EVIL EMPIRE!!!! <8O!!!!
