If You Were A Fan Of USA UP ALL NIGHT! Then Please Help!

If you loved watching Repossessed then I know you would have loved the kind of movies that USA UP ALL NIGHT showed back in the day on the USA Network on Friday and Saturday nights! USA UP ALL NIGHT showed B movies, cult classics, horror movies, and a few mainstream movies as well.

Who can ever forget about that beautiful blonde bombshell of a host Rhonda Shear on Friday nights? I know I cannot forget about her because I thought she was very hot! Then on Saturday nights was that funny man comedian Gilbert Gottfried who is famous for doing the voice of the duck in the AFLAC commercials.

Well some friends and I created a website that is dedicated to USA UP ALL NIGHT and the fans of the show as well. This is not just for the fans of USA UP ALL NIGHT but for everyone! I know there are people out there who never have heard of USA UP ALL NIGHT, seen it before, or are too young to remember USA UP ALL NIGHT on the USA Network back in the day on Friday and Saturday nights!

Well you can find the website on my signature, wikipedia.com, and I have even created a forum on USA UP ALL NIGHT on MySpace where you can also check out the website there as well.

While you are at the website take the time to explore and watch the video clips of the show. Take a few minutes of your time to sign the petition so we can get USA UP ALL NIGHT back on Friday and Saturday nights on USA Network once again! Let your family and friends know about this as well who were fans of the show back in the day and if you know people who loved the kind of movies that were shown on USA UP ALL NIGHT then let them know about the website and the petition as well!

Thanks again!

Rob

I know I'm late as all hell, but yes, I'm 26 years old and I remember and miss this show. I wasnt too into the bimbo chicks (I'm a lady) but I did like the movies. Hey - USA was just the best in general. Remember Silk Stalkings?

reply

Oh do not worry about it and I apoligize to you for taking so long to reply to you. I am glad for a 26 year old that you miss this show as much as I do. I am a 37 year old myself. I understand and respect that you are a lady so do not worry about the bimbo chicks. That is awesome that you liked the movies! It is hard to find people out there that like movies like this these days. Yes USA Network was the best back in the day before they sold out to NBC. See that is what has happened to the USA Network.

NBC converted that network into its sister station along with the SCIFI Channel as well. NBC did not like it being called SCIFI Channel so back in July they altered the name to SYFY Channel which is totally stupid in my opinion. Yes I loved watching Silk Stalkings! I remember it but I did not like it that the main characters left the show though. I mean now if they would have done it in a better way where both characters left the show in a decent manner then I would not have had problems with it or possibly introduce the new characters about a season or two before Rob Estes and I cannot remember the actress name decided to leave the show. I think it would have won over the fans of the show.

What do you think about that?

Aww man! Is THAT why USA now sucks? As well as Sci-Fi? See I never knew that, and you explaining that makes perfect sense.

I dont have cable, for these reasons right here...its just no longer worth it. Everything on tv is either that dumb "reality" type stuff, or some stylized, unrealistic "this is what your life should look like" crap...

They're callin it SYFY now? You're kidding, right?

I knew it was time to cut my cable off, when they changed CourtTv to TruTv...my god in heaven...

What happened to the days of Mystery Science Theatre 3000? The Saturdays and Sundays filled with good horror and sci-fi movies (that were major motion pictures and not cheap rehashings done by the network)???

And kids nowadays wonder why us 25 and up folks are constantly harping on the fact that our tv and music was SO MUCH BETTER!!! Back in the day...

I think to resurrect Silk Stalkings could work - if they follow your plan. But they cannot - CANNOT - make it so damn "artsy" and "trendy" and a cookie cutter of other crime shows (CSI, Law and Order)...just make it kinda campy and good....like the old one was. Nowadays everything in the entertainment world wants to appeal to the yuppies and unrealistic people...so sick of it. All I have on my mp3 player and my dvd collection is movies and music from 1999 on up to the 80's (my favorite decade as far as entertainment).

Yes that is why USA Network now sucks because NBC bought it out and altered the programming to that station that we once loved. Yes NBC now owns the SCIFI Channel as well because I just saw a week or so ago they had Fall Preview for programs and shows that were going to be shown on NBC on the SYFY Channel. Do you believe that? I think that was totally stupid for them to do that. Well I am glad that my explaining helps you out to understand what is going on with the changes of the networks that use to be perfect the way it was before NBC got their grubby hands on USA Network and SCIFI Channel.

Well in ways that is good that you no longer have cable but I no longer watch any of the networks such as NBC, CBS, ABC, or FOX like I once did when their programming was a heck of a lot better back 10 or 15 years ago when the shows were more interesting. I know what you mean about the reality shows and I do not like those either at all. I do not like the Law and Order shows, the CSI's programs, or any of the other programming you can think of. I basically now watch like other channels that have more interesting programming than ABC, CBS, NBC, or FOX.

No I am being serious. NBC changed the name of SCIFI Channel to SYFY Channel. You can look up programming here on the internet and see what I am talking about or google SCIFI Channel and it will show you SYFY Channel instead.

See that is the problem we get adjusted to calling a channel or a network one thing and then they turn around and alter the name of it. I can remember I believe The Hallmark Channel use to have another name but I cannot remember that. They changed it back in the late 90's to early 00's.

I know what you mean about the days of Mystery Science Theater because that was really interesting to watch. I guess peoples tastes in programming has changed since we were younger. I know what you mean about back in the days when you could flip through cable channels and watch a good horror movie or scifi movie that was a major motion picture release. I know what you mean about the cheap rehashings of a network trying to make people watch a remake that is not any good at all to watch.

Yes I know what you mean about that because my little sister is 21 years old and I tell her what she use to enjoy watching when she was younger and if I happen to rent a movie or say that this channel is showing this or that she is not interested in watching it at all.

I know what you mean about that Silk Stalkings could return provided that they do not make it too "Artsy" and "Trendy" like you said. No they should not try to turn Silk Stalkings into other crime shows that you have listed. I like the old version because it was perfect on how it was before. Now do you see why I would like to have USA UP ALL NIGHT return to late at nights? I mean it would not hurt to have a 4 to 5 hour window like they once had before where from 6:00 in the morning until like 10:00 or possibly 11:00 on a Friday and Saturday night they go with USA UP ALL NIGHT.

I would be very happy about that but there are people out there or younger that do not know what is really fun or enjoyable any more it seems like these days.

I enjoyed talking with you! And I agree we need UP All Night Back...I'm going to check out your website link a little later...

Haha, its been years, but I still remember the way the bimbo would say it...

"We're goin to a commercial break...but we'll be back with USA...UP!...all night"

(she would emphasize the "UP", LoL)

Hey was this also the show, where they would do little silly things like, have Jason from Friday the 13th as a guest on the show, and things of that nature> Lol, gotta love it...

I tell ya what else too...I miss the older Turner Network. They would have the Kudzu Theater, I think on Friday nights or sumthin...kinda the same format as Up All Night except it was a dude...

Oh, also, the one and only channel that I do hold in high regards is AMC...American Movie Classics....I guess its kinda obvious why I do huh? Love the Fear Fridays...if I were to get cable back, it would be mainly for AMC and Fox Movie Network...

Danggit, how in the heck did they manage to mess up HBO? Again - I remember back in the day, GOOD movies played back to back all day, and GOOD reality documentaries at night! Now...we have all this silly little stuff like the vampire shows, 6 Feet Under (I did like this show though) and the Sopranos...dont get me wrong, those shows are okay and all, but danngit, can we just have some good ole POPCORN MOVIES, like we did back in the day??

Well it is fun to talk about how programming on TV use to be when we were younger and how it has changed a lot. Yes we do need a program like USA UP ALL NIGHT back on late on the weekends to entertain us all including todays generation who are missing out in what they would enjoy if they watched it. Thank you for taking the time to check out the website that a friend and I created. If you have family or friends that love movies like this please let them know about it. It would definitely help out a lot.

Well that is good that you remember Rhonda Shear who is a very beautiful woman and a great person to talk to as well would say which is so famous!

Yes she would emphasize the UP in USA UP ALL NIGHT! LOL That is what I loved and miss about Friday nights.

They would perform skits on the show but I am not sure if they would have Jason appear on there or not. It has been so long ago since this was on and all. Yes the skits you do have to love! I remember the videos from bands that I really did not know about in between when USA UP ALL NIGHT was going to come back and show the other movie. I believe they were just using the videos as filling in time until they prepared the second movie that they were going to show.

Yes the old TNT was great back in the day and now it is like every other network. They just copy and show the exact same things that everyone else is doing or have like all day of drama shows which I do not like at all. I would rather watch movies on the weekends during the day than drama shows. I do not know why they cannot mix in like a 4 hour or 6 hour window of all day movies and then add like a 2 hour block of drama. I would not mind that at all. Yeah I remember that format and I liked that too what TNT use to have but now it is the same thing like everyone else is doing.

I liked AMC about 10 or 15 years ago when they did not have any commercials on that station but they wanted to alter the programming and show more modern movies to appeal to the younger generation. I liked their old philosophy that they had 21 years ago which they would only show movies from a certain decade all the way up to the 70's. Now they could add like the 80's to that and then right after 2010 add the 90's into the mix. Yes they use to have some good movies on the weekends. I do like FOX Movies because they remind me on how AMC use to be like before they went to commercial and all.

I do not know how they messed up HBO to be honest with you guy. Yes I remember the good movies that HBO use to show but the programming changed though as everything else does. I know what you mean about those shows that you are talking about. I never really got into them at all so I did not watch them to be honest with you. I agree with you that they need to bring back the good Popcorn movies. I remember a lot of low budget B movies back in the day that I could watch on HBO but I do not see them at all anymore now being shown on there. Those were the good old days. I miss them a lot.

The problem with bringing back USA Up All Night is that it wouldn't be able to be the same Not much chance Rhonda would be back or Gilbert Gotfried, remember when she did Friday nights and he did Saturday nights? The page for Usa Up All Night says there were Two other host Both named Caroline. Caroline Schlitt (1986-1990) before Rhonda came in from (1991-1998) then Caroline Barba was a host during (2002) Anyone remember either of Them?

IMO the other problem with bringing back the show would be the changes they would unfortunately make to update the show, like they do to everything.

if a show doesn't work the first time like Human Target starring Rick Springfield maybe later an update might help like the version that just got renewed with Mark Valley and Jackie Earl Haley, but if they do an update of a show that worked the first time the update most of the time doesn't work well.

Look at shows like Night Rider it worked well the first time, but because it could not live up to the first show the redo failed . Dropping the car off out of a semi truck in the original show is one thing but that big freaking plane in the new version is another thing altogether, and the CGI was too much They should have remembered the saying KISS for Keep it Simple Stupid. Even the later Years of Knight Rider got too overdone Remember Pursuit Mode? GAH, that was awfull IMO.

If they ever try to do Up All Night again you know they will over complicate things for a New audiance, and or the show will just not live up to the original as it is now several years later and that show was a product of its time.

Well Rhonda does want to come back and host USA UP ALL NIGHT when it came back. I do remember when Rhonda did Friday nights and Gilbert Gottfried did Saturday nights. Now I do remember Caroline Schlitt because back in 1988 when the local cable company removed a station out of St. Louis to put on instead TBS and TNT I was not able to watch late on Saturday nights The Three Stooges like I did from the time I was a kid. I would stay up from midnight until 2:00 in the morning watching The Three Stooges on a St. Louis Channel called KPLR TV. I loved it but then I found myself flipping channels and that is how I found USA UP ALL NIGHT to replace my Three Stooges fix. So I do remember Caroline Schlitt but I do not remember Caroline Barba though.

I know that there would be some changes done but if it is not too radical though then I would not complain about it at all. If it is way too radical then I may not like it at all. See I have remained in contact with Rhonda Shear for 3 years now and she wants to come back and do the show along with an executive for USA UP ALL NIGHT that was there when the show was on.

I know and understand on what you are talking about but chances have to be taken to see if it would work or not.

Yes I have seen Night Rider and The Bionic Woman fail because they did not follow how the show was done originally. If they had it would have worked out but instead they used way too much and over board effects. Yes I do remember the Pusuit Mode. I was not too crazy about that and preferred Turbo boost instead that Michael would use in the show.

Well this is where USA Network would have to do something like what SPIKE TV did when it was switching over from one channel to SPIKE TV. They used their website for us fans to select in what we wanted to watch on SPIKE TV. I loved that concept. I got to see a couple of my ideas used even though SPIKE did not keep them very long though. My first idea was having The Three Stooges on the channel for us fans and then I recommended Kung Fu movies which they did show for a while. As you can tell the fans who loved drama shows selected CSI which I am not too happy about them showing so much of that and then going with Star Trek Voyager. :(

I was certainly a fan!! I still remember that 3D-looking staircase they always showed at the beginning and it ascending to a fuzzy TV... or was that another program? I know it was on USA. I remember the old horror shows they used to play every Saturday night- maybe not old back then- always from the mid 70's to mid-80's.... they had quite a few films about puppets and mannequins, and as a kid I had a slight obsession with dolls, so I am glad I got to see these... especially the one with the youngsters who get trapped in a house with all the murdering mannequins LMAO. Would still like to know what that film was called. Now... I just collect porcelain dolls... sigh.

BTW MST3K was a program that surely put its place on the map. Nothing has ever been done before or after like it. Even after they stopped filming new episodes, they would still air repeats EVERY Saturday morning on Sci-Fi! Good to know that NBC was the culprit behind this "ingenious" idea of removing yet more comedic relief from our lives. Nothing's been the same with that network since the 90's anyway.

That is great to hear that you were a fan of USA UP ALL NIGHT! Yes they had a lot of great shows during the 80's USA Network did. I grew up watching that channel on the weekends becuase they would show some of the coolest films on there. I even remembered when USA Networks Cartoon Express first aired back in 1983 I believe it was. Now that was cool to watch because they would show some classic cartoons that I grew up watching as a kid during the 70's. I loved the horror movie marathons that USA Network use to show back in the day. That was great to watch!

Well I never really watched MST3K to be honest with you. I have seen bits and pieces of the show, but I never really sat down and watched it though. NBC when they bought out USA Network and the SCIFI Channel out and altered their programming that is when I no longer watched those networks because they do not show the things that I want to watch.

Yep, Sci-fi/SyFy has changed immensely. They even used to air that old vampire soap opera every day... Dark Shadows? And even if they weren't showing an MSTK episode, they'd always air an old horror film at least once a day. And old Twilight Zone nightly... It pisses me off now I have to wait yearly for Thanksgiving on KTLA to see an old Twilight Zone episode!

reply

Well do you know who to blame for all of the changes with SCIFI Channel which NBC loved to change and alter to its own name now which is SYFY Channel is NBC! I know I use to love watching the SCIFI Channel myself guy because I would sit there and watch some of the shows that I loved to watch when I was a kid like Buck Rogers, Battle Star Galactica, and so many more. Now they do keep the New Year's Eve tradition of showing non stop for 24 hours on the new SYFY Channel The Twilight Zone. I just thought that I would let you know about that guy.

That is why I have posted on my USA UP ALL NIGHT website that is dedicated to USA UP ALL NIGH, the fans of USA UP ALL NIGHT, and the old USA Network programming. I totally loved what they had! It is these major networks that are killing themselves! I posted on the USA UP ALL NIGHT board some chart that a friend of mine who is a member of the UAN website that I have he gave me some information on what is killing the major networks. It is airing the darn Law And Order crap! I loved how SCIFI Channel use to show some really low grade B movies. Now all they want to show are the ones that they made a few years ago in reruns over and over again! Then there is another member on the website he created his own website that he has dedicated to USA UP ALL NIGHT as well because he is a major fan. I posted about THIS TV! I love that network along with RETRO TV. They are popping up all over the United States! They are showing old shows that we loved to watch! THIS TV will even show movies that AMC does not want to show or any other network! On right now is the original The Last House On The Left that was made by horror movie legend directed by Wes Craven! Will the major networks show any of these kinds of movies on their network? HELL NO! They will not show these movies! I was watching a month ago Ma and Pa Kettle movies! The last time I saw some major network show any of these movies was when The Family Channel would show classic movies like this! That is why THIS TV is so great to watch! They show like EMERGENCY along with other shows from the 70's and 80's as well! So just be patient my friend and you will see these networks that show things that no other network wants to show will grow and replace the major networks.
