Possible plot variation, that would make the movie "better".

It's just my assumption, but after hearing dialogue quoted below, I couldn't get this idea out of my head. Probably there was another, more elaborate ending in which the Trio would reveal themselves as bank shareholders. In this case, robbing a bank and trying to get away with it could be explained by wealthy people "quirk" and their attempt to humiliate Rotzinger (kind of like Dukes betting in "Trading Places" or Enoses in "Smokey and the Bandit").

Bank Manager: "I want to thank you for getting us out alive. The owners of the bank want me to tell you not to expect any cooperation from them."
Chief Rotzinger: "Oh?"
Bank Manager: "And I think they're gonna kill you with the press, too. They say that if the clown gets away, they owe it to their shareholders to let the "abject humiliation" of this whole thing fall on a public official."
Chief Rotzinger: "How many shareholders are there?"
Bank Manager: "Ahh, just the three, I think."

Some of the earlier scenes should also be changed, Lombino's subplot could be replaced by Rotzinger's extended scenes. With these plot changes, the movie would be more engaging, I think.
