Why don't they make movies like this anymore!?

It's a classic, and it got a sequel just one year later! That sh*t never happens these days.

Because parents shelter their kids too much these days. They just show them movies and cartoons about harmless, gelatinous CGI blobs now.

We're lucky this film got made at all! It was originally going to be a horror drama and they where looking at macually culklin for the part. However that idea shifted to The Good Son and problem child went from a horror to a comedy.

And people want nothing but realism in movies today, anyways.

There was a certain feel to the Early to Mid 90's "Kid Films" that is just lost in time. I guess just like the 80's with The Goonies, Monster Squad, Explorers etc, the 90's had Problem Child 1 and 2, Ernest was cranking out his stuff, you had Hocus Pocus and a bunch of others. It represented the era I suppose. A repression was amongst us after the Reagan years of Prosperity. Same happened when Clinton took over, there was a sense of Hope I guess. I'm not speaking personal politics here, just how the Nation(And Cinema) relates. Nowadays it's just far too PC. So it's Cartoons, CGI Animation and so on... And the revenue is just INSANE. Problem Child made like $40mil, Ernest was making $10 -15mil Gross Per Film. Now, it's half a BILLION plus some. Toy Story changed everything. I even think of films like Indian In the Cupboard or Camp Nowhere, Heavyweights, Little Giants! So many! They just aren't feasible in today's Cinema

That question will be asked by every generation. I guess I
Know how it feels to get older.
