Anyone else think the camping trip was a little too soon?

That is, assuming it was actually the day after Junior was adopted? (It's the same day that they meet Lucy and her mother, the latter gives them a fruitcake for Big Ben's accident, Lucy says, "Yesterday they didn't have a kid..."
I just always thought, the kid got rejected by his (adoptive) grandpa and his bedroom went up in flames within 2 minutes; that night he and Ben get up and have hot chocolate--which usually keeps one awake, then the next day, they're going on a camping trip. To me that just seemed kinda rushed, I dunno.

Odds are there might have been a few days inbetween. There were a lot of cut scenes (compare the t.v. version to the VHS/Theatrical version), so there might have been a day or two between Junior's first night and the camping trip. The pacing of the VHS/Theatrical version felt very rushed to the point where it seems like the whole movie (from Ben and Flo finding out they couldn't have kids to the ending with the Bow Tie Killer) took place in under a week.

Yeah, I saw a VHS tape (either for sale or rent) and on the back of the case was a still from the scene w/Junior with the toy helicopter. That was never in the orig. theatrical release that I recall, and I don't remember if the tape was a 'director's cut' or not), however that scene--and a few others I don't think were in the theaters--aired on NBC--supposedly to make up for time?
Anyhoo, as this year is the movie's 25th anniversary, maybe a 'director's cut' DVD would be nice?

They REALLY need to release the TV versions with all that additional footage, those versions were FAR better than the theatrical ones, and they made more sense, especially the sequel with Trixie.

I believed everything event after the adoption was rushed. I assume Junior's stay was within a week by the end of the movie, and in that assumed week, he's already been on a camping trip, a girl's birthday party, and a baseball game where he was on the team. Seriously, if I had adopted a kid, I wouldn't rush 3 major events on him in the first week. I'd give him time to settle in and feel adjusted for a while first. But Ben and Flo wanted a kid so they can be more involved in events with other people, and they were in a big hurry to do it.

Flo is the one who wants a kid for public recognition, not Ben, he genuinely wanted to be a good father and love him which is something his own father couldn't do.
