The predator's movements were so bad

Terrible coordinative acting - you could so easily tell a goofy human was in a suit - completely killed the believability.

Plus the goofy close ups on the predator's face after the hokey "comedic" dialogue has to make this the weakest "villain" of the series.

This Predator was a pussy.

At one point when he was squating down it looked like he was about to break out with a Michael Jackson routine.

"How can you say its movements are bad when it's the same actor from the first movie?"

Bad direction - in the original, he moved more like a hulking beast with some agility, in P2, he moved like a human coming out of an aerobics class.

Predator in the first is a badass.

Predator in P2 is an aerobics class instructor.

This Predator was the best of the entire series, City Hunter was a badass who was a reckless son a gun who kicked ass! if you want a lame Predator look at the awful 'classic' Predator in Predators.

reply

Predator 2 lost a hand-to-hand fight with the most unathletic cop of all time. That predator is a disgrace to the alien race.

reply

This Predator killed a good chunk of people from L.A, I think apart from Wolf Predator this Pred has the biggest killcount. This Predator was an elite badass.

Here's a blurb from the back of the final VHS release of PREDATOR 2 (Yes, I have the final VHS release of PREDATOR 2 ) that might help to explain the difference between the kinetic styles of the two Predators...

For the sequel to the successful hit PREDATOR, the filmmakers decided this new Predator should be younger, more flamboyant and rebellious...

...they were both played by the same actor, so the differences in movement are a conscious choice.

'Cause there's thunder in your heart... every move is like lightning!

it doesnt excuse the terrible animatronic mandibles, the first one was so lifelike, this was obviously fake and had a terrible pussy throat to match

I agree with this. People always talk about how stupid it is for Hanzo in Predators to defeat the Predator in a sword fight (a fight that consisted of the Predator toying with him and was a draw in actuality), but that's absolutely nothing compared to watching Glover fend one off with a sharp frisbee while wearing baggy grandpa pants after we watched him chase his lieutenant at the beginning of the movie in what I can only describe as the slowest half jog in human history.

Watch the movie again, Harrigan didn't win against the predator,
Read the post again. I didn't say Harrigan won.

You should've noticed this if you were capable of understanding what is written right in front of you.

Hell even with only one arm the predator knocked Harrigan against the wall.
So impressive! I must've looked down at my iphone during that part, did he give that sluggish cop a titty twister too??

reply

And my point is that Hanzo isn't Harrigan. He's clearly faster and highly skilled with a sword. That coupled with the fact that the Predator let him get up MULTIPLE times while taunting him should be enough to shut up people like Breacher up there complaining on why Harrigan's fight makes sense while Hanzo's doesnt.

reply

The movie made it easier on Harrigan as he pumped about half a dozen shotgun rounds into the alien. That means the end showdown is Harrigan vs a Predator who's weakened plus he then even cuts the alien's hand off.

In the original predator Dutch wins the initial battle because he's camouflaged and beats the alien at its own game by using the terrain against it with traps and tactics etc. When the mud comes off and it's mano a mano, Dutch gets ruthlessly pwned and it's only luck and quick thinking that stops his ass from becoming the seventh trophy in the Pred's collection. In Predator 2 they figured "yeah no one will believe Harrigan taking on the Pred" so they had it so that it'd get shot a bunch of times, basically a wounded predator.

First order of business - it was Harrigan who got in the first 'blood', plus the gunfire that the OWLF personnel pumped into the City Hunter. He gets at LEAST half a dozen nitrogen cannons/ SMGs being sprayed at him during the initial struggle, and Harrigan later destroys/ damages his plasma cannon, then blows off his armour with his 40mm GL.

Second thing here - I believe that Dutch got in the first attack in Pred 1 (like my above point). Yes, he eventually gets beaten like sh*t, but it was HE who initiated the 'explosive crossbow' which probably inflicted a measure of injury.

Furthermore, the Jungle Hunter ALREADY had 7 trophies, if you count Jim Hopper. The AVP wiki has it like that, so that would make Dutch the 8th victim.

I still stand by my original opinion, that the Pred was merely toying with him.

You should stick to one account dude.

The Predator/Hanzo fight was sh!t too.

It was sh*t 'cos the Pred was either being honorable

I now realise that I made a mistake that I don't intend to take back.

Given the fact that the Berserker rarely or never adhered to the Pred's code of honour, I doubt that the Falconer was even being honorable at all. It probably IS being a case of Hanzo outsmarting him even though they were supposed to be damn ruthless warriors. Retarded swordfight - you could straight out see whoever cheorographed it was being batsh*t insane.

reply

Seems to me "Predators" completely ignores the code of honour.

But the regular ones clearly did, in the first Anna was ignored due to her being unarmed. Same goes in the second one (for the 3 targets who the City Hunter spared). In AVP Weyland is initially left unharmed but Scar kills him for attacking first, in the second one Wolf accidentally killed Jesse (doesn't count as breaking the code since she ran into the line of fire).

This is another reason this sequel is far inferior to the original. Arnold was more believable in defeating the Predator. He was a mercenary, special forces guy. And even if we buy that the Predator was toying with Danny Glover the original Predator toyed even more so with Arnold.

The plot & script of Predator 2 is light years from the original. As I noted in another thread, this flick is fun but can't be compared with Predator.

I rate Predator- 8, Predator 2- 6

reply

The director was probably thinking 'oh the first one is set in a forest so to heck with it! im gonna set this in the town and give the role of 'special forces' to the cop lieutenant'.

reply

LMAO...finally a person who gets it on this board. Now i'm gonna enjoy reading the rest...keep punching those suckeeeeeers! :)

yes yes this is one gripes i have with predator 2.

the actor who play pred has been attending too much dance class as prep for this film. you can see here he doing michael jackson dance in rain: https://youtu.be/YhSxOPK0gDg?t=44

this is what they were practising: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOw47NC_sxI. too much tribal dance moves. pred looked much better in first film.
