Art immitates Life

I love it when Bean counters (Uncle Marty) clash with Artistes and Wayward S.A.G. members.
What a funny movie.
The best when Hollywood lifts the up the Magic Curtain and allows the tricks and sleight of hand to be seen.
But I think the absolute best is the scene between Suzanne and her mom in the hospital; Suzanne quickly, deftly, applies her mother's makeup and headscarf and pulls her together to meet her press. So touching. And Suzanne finding her inner Tough Bitch ejects the meddling grandma from the hospital room.
I don't know how this movie did at the box office; I think I must have been on another planet through the whole 90s, but I just adore it for its inside look at ordinary folks living extraordinary lives behind that Magic Curtain.
That's what happens when Mike Nichols meets up with Rob Reiner, Carrie Fisher, Shirley Maclean and Meryl Streep. Pure delight.

A neat little movie, deft and sleek with a catchy tune at the Final Scene.

I intend to live forever. So far so good.
