Gene Hackman is wonderful in this movie.

Well, he is.

I agree, totally.

Gene Hackman is, was, and will continue to be wonderful in any film he appears in. He is a superior actor because he has always worked very hard to achieve that superiority.

Such a nice character he plays here, too. A relief to see that not all the characters were creeps. (In fact, it bathed me in relief.)

Hackman is fantastic in all of his films. I especially liked him in Get Shorty.

Hackman is always wonderful. I can't think of a film where he wasn't wonderful.

I agree with this and every single poster who chimed in. He's one of my all-time favorite actors -- he's so charismatic and can do anything -- hero, villain, anything -- and we still care about them.

He's so warm and real here, too.

Absolutely. He had the perfect mix of no-bullshit directorial sternness and fatherly protection the role required. He was magic.

Then again, everyone in this film was perfectly cast. It’s a too often overlooked gem of a movie.
