Please help. I'm desperate for this soundtrack!!!!!

Does anyone know how I can get a copy of the soundtrack for this version Phantom. I've got Garino's (singer for Erik) voice stuck in my head. All I can find on the net is for the musical. Thanks any help is appreciated.

As far as I know this soundtrack is collectible piece which makes it almost impossible to find original. But you can have an excellent copy applying to: The Majestyk score Archive 2004. (www.majestyx.com). Look for John Addison's Phantom of the opera (Colossal Records XCD-1004)

I agree that there should be a soundtrack for this gorgeous movie. I just ADORE Michele Lagrange's singing! What a gorgeous voice! I wish there were more recordings available of her singing.

As an opera-singer-in-training myself, naturally I particularly love this version for its rich operatic excerpts. I would suggest purchases recordings of the operas featured or at least highlights or an operatic compilation CD.

The following operas/excerpts were featured in the movie:

GOUNOD: Faust
VERDI: La Traviata
BELLINI: Norma

The piece that Christine sings at the Bistro is "Par le rang et par l'opulence"
from "La Fille du Regiment" (the daughter of the regiment) by DONIZETTI.

Recommended recordings:

Faust: Cheryl Studer, Richard Leech, Jose Van Dam, Thomas Hampson. EMI Classics.
There is also an excellent recording with Mirella Freni and Placido Domingo.

La Traviata: Angela Gheorghiu, Frank Lopardo, Leo Nucci. DECCA. 1995.
or the one with Cotrubas and Domingo. I would also recommend a recording with Maria Callas.

Norma: the are a few versions with the exquisite Maria Callas...the DEFINITIVE Norma. Also many famous sopranos through the ages have recorded beautiful versions of "Sediziose voci...Casta Diva".

La Fille du Regiment: get the one with either Joan Sutherland or Beverly Sills.

Of course, opera recordings are very expensive...so you might just want to look into a compilation CD. There are many good ones out there.

What about the 'lullaby' that Erik sings to Christine - the tune that is used through the entire movie? Does anyone recognize that, or was it an original song?

reply

I know this song. It's called "Laissez-moi planter le mai". It's a 17th century French folk-song. There's no composer and no 'official' version, but I've got a score and if you want, I can scan it for you. Just let me know.

reply

Thank you for telling me; that's incredibly helpful. And, wow, if you've got the time and it's no trouble, that would be amazing. But again, please don't go out of your way.

reply

Oh please...could you please send that to me also? I absolutely love it. Do you know where that song can be found on the internet? I was really hoping to put it on my blog...

By the way, I'm really new to this IMDB so if anything looks goofy its not my fault...but if it looks terrific it was all me. ;-) =D

I know it may be a little late, but I would love a copy of the score as well, my address is : [email protected] I have been a huge fan of this movie since it origianally came out. Any other infor regarding this wonderful movie would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Erik

Hi there!

I was just wondering if icicle_vixen or anyone who might also have the score for "Laissez-moi planter le mai" could please post the name of whatever company published the version you have. Or, if it is in a collection of songs from the 17th c., could you please post the name of that collection. I don't want to trouble anyone to send it to me personally! (but I would love to find it :)

Of course, if anyone is willing to send it along I will pay for the shipping/handling/photocopying costs.

I would really like to learn this piece to sing for my mother. As seems to be the case with many of the "posters" on this site, Mum & I bonded over this movie!

Thanks,

If you still have laissez-moi planter le mai I would love it. I have dying for that song. Send it to [email protected]
Thanks so much.

By the way, the lullaby Erik is singing is an alteration to the theme. The score I've got is literally the song young Christine sings at a fair, accompanied by her father on the violin and Philippe on a flute.

reply

Wow you've got the score of that song?! You mean the sheet music? Could you mail that to me if it is no trouble for you? That would be very great!

I am also in love with this movie. When i was 9 years old i saw it on tv and it had stolen my heart. I am also looking for the soundtrack of this movie. Michèle Lagrange and Gérard Garino are simply the best. The song they are singing from Faust is absolutely beautiful! I am looking for the DVD too but can't find it here in the Netherlands. And order it by Amazon is very expensive isn't it?

If someone finds the cd and want to make a copy i am very interested!

Love from Holland,
Dorike

Hi, I'm also a opera singer-in-training.

I love the song "Par le rang et par l'opulence". I was wondering if you would know of any site that might have the score for it. I am always looking for new songs to practice and sing for a concert, so far I've done "Habanera", and "Je Veux Vivre". I think this song would really make a big hit.

Any help would be appreciated. ^^

Oh I know!! She has a more beautiful voice than Maria Callas or Joan Sutherland! No wonder Erik was in love with her!! I wish I could find a CD with Michele singing and I did hear from someone that a soundtrack to this miniseries was made but I've searched all over the internet and can't find it. I just want a CD with those particular songs that Michele sang in the movie with her actually singing them!!

I bought my copy (John Addison: Phantom of the Opera colossal Records XCD-1004) from http://www.majestyx.com/ as I mentioned before. Email majestyx (scroll down) and you will have the CD via post office services. It’s the same way I got mine. I don’t think you will have any problem. But if you can’t have it from there then I can make you a copy and you will hear Garino and Lagrange as much as you like! And congratulation Princessmagical for mentioning the shipping cost. Some people forget it.

Hi, just seeing if anyone who has this soundtrack stumbles across this thread. I have been looking for a copy (burned) of the soundtrack for my mum, who's been in love with this series since she saw it first on tv, but the only copy i can find is VERY expensive. Would anyone who talked about making a copy contact me? I'd be more than happy to pay for the S&H, and you'd make my mum's decade.

Thanks!

reply

I have the soundtrack as it was originally released. It's amazing. I'm not a huge fan fan of this film, nor the stage version of it, but the music in the movie is irresistible. PM me if interested.

Does anyone know the french title of the duet at the end of the film?

Edit: Ok, I found the title. But is there a songtext???

"mon coeur est penetre d'epouvante"

The duet at the end can be found by typing (Faust: No.31 "Alerte, alerte!") into ITunes, it sounds almost exactly the same as it does in the film ;)

btw, does anyone know if its possible to get hold of the song Christine sings at the fair as an MP3, Wav, Mpeg ANYTHING!? i LOVE that song so much!!!!!!!!! *sob*

reply

It's the finale from Faust, "Anges Pur!"
