Venus

Listening to Anji's story made me really sad. Did they ever find out who strangled her?

reply

She was strangled under a bed, left dead for 4 days in a sleazy NYC hotel...

Did they ever find her killer? It's just really pisses me off when they never find the murderer. That kinda crap happened alot in the 80s. There weren't enough cameras, or they never even bothered looking for the culprit. :(

Not to mention the prejudice that would have come from being a gay, 'trans', prostitute in New York during that period. I doubt the police would have done much to try and solve the case. Many would have been open and proud bigots and would have considered Venus' lifestyle to be a contributing factor to the hussler crime around Times Square at that time. To most in law enforcement, I bet she would have been nothing but a 'freak' and a criminal.

the sad thing is, because of who Venus was, they might not have even put much effort into finding out who did it. The authorities tended to have a "who cares" attitude towards prostitutes, street people, and especially trans gender prostitutes. Things are better today, but back in the late 80's, New York was a dirty, crime infested place and it was quite dangerous. don't get me wrong, it was an incredible time to be in NYC, and I think the dangerous aspect made it all the more exciting..

I think it's pretty disgusting that you can excuse the behavior of murderers by placing the blame on the victims. If someone came on to you sexually, no matter how outrageously (as long as they didn't assault you) would you murder them? If so, I bet that's why you can excuse the behaviors of these AWFUL scum who beat, rape, and murder transwomen because they're uncomfortable in their own skin.

Screw that.

Non, je ne regrette rien.

reply

Oh please, get a talk show if you're that desperate to mouth off. Where do I excuse her murderer? You know I don't, but you have to pretend I do so you can get off on a rant and give attitude.

Venus courted danger, & she got it. Same as someone who leaves their doors wide open in a neighborhood they know is dangerous.

And you're the know-it-all neighbor who likes to lecture people on what is and isn't the "right" thing to say after said home dweller is robbed/raped/murdered.

Venus got just what she was asking for.

That's a disgusting think to say.
We are talking about a REAL PERSON here, not a movie character.
Show some common decency and respect please.
