Why is this not out on DVD?
I really liked this film.

This is one of my all time fave filmed Tenn Williams productions--and one of my fave, and his most underated, play. Yeah Fugitive Kind isn't a BAD film--but I'm pretty deseperate for this on DVD too...
sharesome time ago I reviewed 'The Fugitive Kind' on the imdb site (q.v.)--I said we need to see the Peter Hall version to get the real impact of the play.
glad to see I'm not a lone voice crying in the wilderness!
The VHS I have is from Turner Entertainmment; so I suppose it could get a DVD release if we made our 'desperation' heard.
('We' being the few(?) who've seen the Peter Hall version.)
I was just thinking again how much I want this released. OK, I'm game--where do we write? :)
shareYou can find it here http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5940385/Orpheus_Descending_Vanessa_Red grave_1990
shareA wider release is certainly in order. I was fortunate enough to find this on VHS for 99 cents in the clearance bin of a video store.
It's a terrific adaptation of the Tennessee Williams play with scorching dialogue and imagery and outstanding performances by Vanessa Redgrave and Kevin Anderson, but like most films based on plays, I think it would work much better onstage. 7/10 stars from me.
