I never never thought about it until I read your post. Yes, they are similar but not the same. A look at the surface yes but the acting is so different, the motivation and love interest differ too. Both great movies!
shareI saw both movies as a kid and have always thought they were very similar. Glad to see other people picked up on it. Dana Carvey is one of the most underrated funnymen ever.

I was a teenager at the time when I watched both films. At the time when Opportunity Knocks came out I was 18 years old and remember going to see it at the movie theater along with Taking Care Of Business as well. Both movie theaters were empty with not that many people there to watch the films. Yes Dana Carvey is hilarious all right.

Yes they are smililar like you said and different also in the plot of the films that make it so much different from each other though.
