Agreed.

I would have liked it more if Ashberry hadn't killed Eigerman and actually brought him along--would have made for an interesting role reversal. Ashberry is now the mastermind and Eigerman is his blubbering manservant along for the ride.

I think footage of this alternate take actually exists but I'm not 100% sure.

Cool as the ending with Decker being resurrected is, the new one with Ashberry hungry for revenge is just a little more fitting.

How so? Even in the DC Ashberry's motive is entirely unclear. One minute he's attempting to stop the Nightbreed from being killed and the next he wants them dead. Granted, he was "rejected" by Baphomet due to his inherent weaknesses / wishy-washiness, but there was no build up to that, all he was before that was a peripheral character with a handful of lines and we know he was in jail for being a drunk.

Decker, on the other hand, already had a clear motive ( er desire at least ) to kill the Nightbreed, if I'm someone with a grudge like Ashberry, I'm going to the guy who almost succeeded in wiping them out.

jbhutt0, you should read the short story from Midian Unmade entitled "And Midian Whispered its Name". I think you would enjoy it. It's one of my favorites from the collection.

I like both endings. One certainly cannot deny the power of the Decker resurrection scene. It may not be true to the original Cabal novella, but then, neither is the Ashberry scene. They changed him completely for the ending. Either way, I'd love to have a continuation, and I don't care which version they pick up from.

I am not a fan. I just happen to enjoy movies. Fans are embarrassing.
