I finally saw this tonight

I started the movie expecting it to be terrible. As, most remakes are. But, this film wasn't. It was actually great. I like the changes to the story, I like the new actress they got to play Barbra, I thought the make up on the zombies looked well done, and the atmosphere the film manages to capture is just perfect. This is how you make a remake ladies and gentlemen.

Ditto, great example of how to modernize yet stay true to an original, all while being unique but not too far off from the source material.

I don't think it gets the credit it deserves at times.

I'm sure most people write it off and assume it will be as bad as the Day of the Dead remake. Which is a shame because they're really missing out. Do you think they should make another remake in 7 years? It will have been another 30 years by then. If they keep it as good as this was and cast it well, I'd be game.

reply

No, enough with the remakes. Let things be. No more need to reimagine something again just for the sake of cashing in on its name.

I love it too!! Especially Tony Todd as Ben.

I totally agree. Tony Todd nailed the role. This remake is one of my favorites.

The only thing missing was a really great "feast" scene that we've come to expect in Romero's Dead films...especially considering it was directed by Savini. Still great.
