Just awful

First off, it's supposed to be a satire. Of what? I couldn't sleep and Turner Classic Movies had it on at 4:00 AM, and as bad as this movie was I still couldn't sleep, but what the heck was satirical? The court scene went on for half of the movie it seemed, tryna get the guy to answer one single question ... and I can't recall if he answered it because he droned on and on. I'm stunned that IMDB users rated it over 8.0
I just checked to make sure that I recorded the entire movie and I did, because I don't remember how it started, so I may have missed the first few minutes. Nonetheless I thought it was just awful.
TCM aired "A Taste of Cherry" immediately before Close Up and it was almost the polar opposite, not much dialogue, as opposed to Szabian just droning on and on but NEVER answering the question he was axed. But A Taste of Cherry was simplistic in it's limited camera angles, and the slowness of the Range Rover, but that added to the movie, it's hard to describe why, in the overhead shots of the Range Rover crawling along the mountainous dirt roads, it was a different pace than half of the Hollywood tripe which involves Vingh (sp) Diesel stealing a pricey car every few minutes and driving like his butt was on fire.
I rated Close Up a 4 and will tryna force myself to watch the first few minutes.
