last funny steve martin movie?

Did Steve Martin make any funny movies after this? By my account it's been pretty much downhill since this, and don't give me Father of the Bride or The Out of Towners.

I'm an innocent victim in here! I was attacked by a coked up whore and a - a *beep* crazy dentist!

I like to think that bringing down the house was pretty funny.

LA Story, Housesitter, and Bowfinger come to mind, but his work definately took a nose dive. I could really do without the "Steve Martin" from Father of the Bride and Cheaper by the Dozen, and would love return of the "Steve Martin" from this movie, Roxanne, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

I haven't seen it in a while, but Bowfinger was a good movie. I can't really remember anything else good from him that's fairly recent.

No, the other guy is right... you like crap.

although Father of the Bride was good, it wasn't really a comedy.

Your post had no inclination of sarcasm,(which is what I would assume you meant by humour), as too say "I am saying these movies are good but we all know they are so bad". I see, you said the opposite of the truth. Wait, that IS very humourous. It is indeed my sense of the humour that is flawed, and not your skill in being humourous. Well done sir...You should write a Steve Martin screenplay with wit like that.

Steve's work is too obvious these days...the jokes are transparent or forced. Bowfinger was a bit like that. A good idea, with a few laughs here and there, but overall, a bomb. My Blue Heaven, on the otherhand, had many well written characters and the jokes were actually very funny.

I completely agree with frederickelliot. Although Bowfinger was reasonable. Martin's performance did seem a little forced at times. In recent years i can't think of a really funny Steve Martin movie. But classic Steve Martin is hilarious!

I liked the first Pink Panther remake with him in it, it was kind of funny. I think as physical comedians (or comedians in general) get older it's just more difficult for them to be as funny was they were when they were younger. This phenomenon appears to be happening with Jim Carrey as well, although "Yes Man" was pretty funny. They just need the right vehicle.

reply

No, that would be Bowfinger.

Nosey little bastard, ain't ya?
