Very Strange Choice for the Opening Music

I quite like "The Music Box," and have seen it several times. Tonight I watched it again, and noticed that the opening music was "The Foggy Dew," a traditional Irish song. Its lyrics vary, but they usually have something to do with a beautiful girl that the singer has met in the countryside. In any case, I thought this song was an extremely strange choice to open a movie connected with Hungary! (The tune is repeated at least once more, when Jessica Lange's character is walking near the Lánchíd (the Chain Bridge) in Budapest.) Any comments on why they would choose this song to open the film with?

Im Arme der Götter wuchs ich groß.--Friedrich Hölderlin

It's a conspiracy theory: none of this happened in Hungary, but Ireland... who knew? Just kidding. But, I agree that it is strange as that's obviously a Hungarian gathering. Had no idea that it was an Irish song. Good to know

Yes, I noticed the strange resemblance to the Foggy Dew folk song too. Odd in a film with no Irish but a partly Hungarian setting.
