This weekend marks the 40th anniversary of the murders.
The good news is that a multiracial group of citizens in Philadelphia, Mississippi, has called for the state to reopen investigations into the case, and to treat it as violations of state law. Some of the murderers are still alive, and at least one certainly avoided jail time for his part in the events recorded here.
So much has changed, but so much has yet to change.
