Why did they make two versions?

Was it to make more money and was it to make it more child appropriate when they showed the 77 min version on The Disney Channel? I have both versions on DVD. On the Full Version there is very Adult humor. So I assume they cut it to the shorter version to make it more appropriate. I love both versions equally. But what was the point?

Well I'm glad they made a separate version for Disney. The music on the shortened version is far better than the one on the commercial released VHS version. The title of the move is ROCK N RHYME yet the original score sounded like lullabies. The one that aired on TV had that sort of up beat pop rock kind of feel.
