Anyone else think he really dragged the movie down with his performance? why did he always used to have to cast himself in his films in major roles? It works in Do the Right Thing but in this movie the role of Giant should have been played by a proper actor, Spike didn't have the acting chops to pull it off and it hampers the movie.

No I don't---Spike's actually fun to watch in front of the camera when he gives himself a decent part, and he didn't hamper the movie in any shape,form or fashion.

It's probably his third best performance after Mars Blackman and Mookie from Do The Right Thing!
