How many bullets does a Tommy gun magazine hold?

I swear Leo fired like hundreds of bullets from his Tommy gun. Not that I minded, the scene was awesome, but I was just wondering.

I honestly have no idea what the correct answer is. But the actual answer is of course, "As many as the film-makers need to make the scene work!" I'm not trying to be smarmy or sarcastic, I understand your point, but that's just one of those film universe cliches, where guns don't ever run out of ammo, teens wander backwards through dark forests, every time a hero is shot it's merely a flesh wound, etc. Roger Ebert once compiled a list of oft-committed movie cliches, and of course films such as "Last Action Hero", "Airplane", "Scary Movie", "Scream" and the like have fun pointing out the ridiculous nature of these things that have just become generic film language.

These days there are plenty of non-spoof films that could learn from the examples of their forebears; "Now You See Me", for instance, is the kind of modern mystery film that leaves very little wiggle room for any kind of original ending. If one was able to pause the film halfway through and poll the audience, most people would probably correctly guess the conclusion, even if they're hoping to be pleasantly surprised by something more. But where's the fun in that?

I agree Seuss. It is ridiculous how many bullets he fires, and that's all part of the dark humour in their scenes. It shows how absurd and cartoonishly funny violence can be if done in the right way - as for example in the scene where Leo helps the second would-be assassin do a "bullet dance" with his Tommy gun into the chandelier and all over the floor. Hilarious.

The only man who loads his Tommy gun with more bullets than Leo, is Chuck Norris.

I stopped watching the movie after this scene.

I am a huge fan of the Coen Brothers, but they shouldn't get a pass with that scene.

That was a mistake.

Was re-watching it again and indeed looked like he had unlimited ammo hack, usually TG had 100 bullet drum, this looked like 999
