why is Audrey crying?

There is a scene that Audrey was attending some church service with her mom on Christmas. She couldn't stop crying, why?

I'll check again but I thought the "truth game" revelation is after the Christmas.
Audrey met Serena (outside the church?) and she told her that Tom thinks of her (Audrey) highly. Audrey wasn't really crying, but she just couldn't stop her tears. I am not sure if it's triggered by something serena said or just the religious atmosphere in the church. Nice scene though.

Audrey is crying because although she is initially excited when told that Tom thinks highly of her, the only detail Serena gives is that Tom thinks Audrey is "well read". Not exactly the type of compliment she wants to hear from someone she has fallen for. It shows that Tom regards her as a friend and nothing more. Also, that little exchange demonstrates that Tom has been spending time with Serena and Audrey has suspected all along that Tom never got over Serena.

I thought Tom was supposed to be there, but didn't make it and that's why she was crying? Later he apologizes for not making it, doesn't he?
