Paul McCartney

If I remember properly, in this movie liking 'the music of Paul McCartney' is associated with mental illness?

That I do not remember. Or any other specific music for that matter.

It's just a humorous throwaway line, nothing more.

The way Nick described 'Polly Perkins' reminded me of 'The Catcher in the Rye', namely Holden's description of Jane Gallagher and how she "wouldn't take her kings out of the back row". The tiny, 'quirky' details a fond observer would notice and consider worth mentioning which make the story so oddly touching - and believable: as soon as Tom started questioning Nick afterwards I caught on it was made up, excuse me, "a composite", but so. well. done! Ah, Nick...
