acting and directing at the same time

There is a scene in which Emilio is in the foreground of the shot, looking out of a window. At the same time he is able to direct the action playing out behind him. How did he pull that off?

You are aware the cast and crew goes over everything before hand right? They don't just point and shoot. Scenes that are to be filmed that day are planned out. Most likely storyboard.

It's quite easy. Eastwood, Stallone and so on have acted and directed within the same film

They watch the playback on the monitor and change what they don't like. They will repeat the process until the director likes the take and decides to move on.
