would of loved to see him become the main character in the second movie
I believe it was because they wanted the series to move in a different direction with Robert Davi, who looked more physically intimidating than Bruce Campbell, as the main character. Bruce had already had his shine as Ash in the Evil Dead series and Maniac Cop 2, if you compare it to the original, is the superior movie of the two though both are classics. Still, I would have enjoyed seeing Jack Forrest survive longer as well. But I will say I like McKinney better than Forrest, especially after Jack sold out to keep his job rather than accept the truth. And that's what got him killed. His willingness to be blind and think it was over after all that happened in the first film.
