Maybe he should've left the church?

I just finished watching this, and it's a pretty good movie. Very good in fact, and it kept me quite in tune with my emotions throughout. That's why I think maybe the ending would have been more fitting, if Father o'Hannon had left the church to be with Ms. McGee. I especially thought this when he looked into her eyes, and asked "Have I sinned?" And then he kissed her. Something like that... it just led me to believe that their priorities could have changed a bit, and maybe he would realize that he belonged with her. Because my heart was rooting for them throughout the movie. It really seemed like they would've made a great couple -- not just pen-pals.

Anyone else feel this way?

Great movie, nonetheless. And some of the scenery is beautiful! By the way, I love the scene where Father o'Hannon cooks mushrooms for the Bishop -- because I love his living headquarters. At first, it might strike you as shabby, as it did me. But, it's really quite quaint. By the time the scene was over, I decided I would like to live in a place like that!

I am the movies I love! (^_^)

Personally, I think it would be a terrible thing if Fr. O'Hannon left the Church for Agatha. Their entire love story was based on them both being old-school Catholics. If they gave up their beliefs for selfish, personal gain, it would turn them into huge hypocrites. The idea of them sacrificing for the Church is perfect -- because Christ sacrificed himself for the Church (his people). Plus, this ending makes their love truer and sweeter.

To me, the ending was a refreshing change from what most Hollywood endings would be.
