If you like Clive Owen...

If there are any Clive Owen fans out there, watch this movie, look me in the eye and then tell me you are still a devotee. His acting skills in this movie are absolutely atrocious. I will admit, half the fun of the film is imitating him saying such memorable lines as 'Tom Faggus'.

I just bought the movie, cost me an arm and a leg, and watched it and I am still in shock! This was one of Clive Owen's early movies but still. He just seems to stand around like a big goof with that stupid look on his face that makes you want to smack him! I find it so very hard to believe he was ever that bad of an actor. He could have been playing the character that way........but somehow I doubt it. All of the dialog in this movie is weak but Clive Owen's was especially pitiful - sad to say.

Interesting, this was the one and only time I thought Clive Owen was positively effective.

I wasn't a Clive Owen fan until I watched this, but I am now. He played the part brilliantly keeping the character modest but positive, romantic but heroic - all combined. The perfect role for him perfectly performed: by far the best version of John Ridd there has ever been (to the best of my knowledge).
