I know that this has been discussed before, but the age of the girl has never been discussed. If there was only one girl on the island, what would it be like?
Of course, you guys say that the boys will rape and kill her.
But here's the twist.
Supposed the girl was 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, or 25?
I'd say that a girl in her late teens to 20's would stand a good chance on the island. Girls who are the boy's ages have little hope.
I think a girl who is 25. If she is intelligent enough may find a way of controlling the group and being the adult in charge. But i feel very strongly that this would not last very long. eventually the kids like jack and the savages would realize shes the only authority so taking her out means no consciences. i see them eventually over time overpowering her and raping her. It may depend on how smart she is. she may be smart enough to hold kids together and teach them about morals etc but maybe not. could go either way really.

I think even an older girl would be overpowered eventually.
She couldn't be on her guard all the time, and even if she was, there were quite a few boys on the island.
I'm 18 and stronger than most other girls my age (from playing hockey) but I can still be over powered by a few 13 year olds, especially if they're smart about the way they grab me.
Let's say that a box washes up on the island and it contains a handgun and enough bullets for every boy on the island. The girl has terrific aim and is a great shot and she happens to have a purse in her possession and uses it to hide the gun and bullets. She only tells Ralph and Piggy about it.
Do you think that if Jack and his tribe tried to overpower her and she pulled the gun on them, they may decide to not mess with her?
Why don't we just say the girl has super powers and is invisible?

shareThe truth is there is no female in the movie, no girl, woman and etc. The author wants us to see what's going to happen if you leave kids all alone. The adult could be the authority, but they can't be on guard all the time as someone already mentioned. A woman is only weaker as a general concept to kids. I should say a man would have better chance than a woman or a girl, but an older boy doesn't make much difference, so an older girl would have less chance. It only gets disturbing thinking about the situation.
There are some other realistic movies you can take a look to see how kids over power adults such as Eden Lake.

From the beginning, they have already started to take on traditionally feminine & male roles - Jack as the husband provider & Ralph the nurturing wife. Granted, it becomes convoluted, but it's a start. If the boys were there alone long enough, the boys would start having sex in some, or all, ways with each other. So, throw a woman into the mix, of ANY age, intelligence, or appearance, and not only would the boys eventually take her, she would most likely eventually invite one or more. Sex is a basic human need. We have countless examples of this throughout history - from prisons to isolated families where inbreeding becomes normal.

The girl would willingly become a cougar for the boys after so much time or the boys would overpower/rape/kill her. All the shocking things she could say or whatever abilities you could give her won't defeat natural impulses.
Plus one adult against about 30 kids? Have you seen Children of the Corn?

Unless the adult became brutal and actively sought the kids out, even an adult man could be killed by those kids at 30. They can come when he's sleeping, they could flank him with their weapons. All it takes is a good stick to the eye or a big enough rock thrown at your skull to put you out. You could be sleeping and get a stick to your groan and be screwed.

Wait a minute, what if the girl said something to freak the boys out so they would stay away from her?
For example:
"I have AIDS (or another STD)."
"I used to be a man."
"I'm a shemale."
Do you think the boys would fall for any of those? If I were one of them and she said, "I have AIDS", I would stay as far away from her as possible.
In 100% seriousness any character over 15 would've defeated the purpose if the book and or movie.
The whole point order was lost was because the children weren't going to follow someone of their own kind who wanted order and logic, they wanted to have fun.
And plus how does a 20 year old woman fit into soceity? Simon represents natural good, Roger natural evil with restraint, Jack turned evil and Ralph is a leader who doesn't always do the right thing. So where does 20 year old woman fit in?

If they killed her, they'd no longer be able to use her for sex, so what would be the point of that? Assuming that these guys are heterosexual, I'd think they'd do their best to keep her alive.
