Dermot Mulroney
I think he was the most brilliant actor in this movie.
shareHe was good in About Schmidt too.

If Brokeback Mountain had been around in the early 90's he would have made a great Jack Twist.
I'm not so certain I would say his acting was fantastic - but my god, was he incredible to look at! I fell in love with him after seeing this movie.
shareYou're not alone there, hjames !!
(But my heart was captured by Fuzzy. I still feel a bit of a crush for him, even now !!)
Dermot was good in this one, for sure ... but for me, the top performance was from Bruce Davison. He was just amazing, and so moving.
You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.
He was definitely one hot number in this movie. And he sort of peaked in "My Best Friend's Wedding". Unforch, he hasn't aged all that well...

If you can find it, check out Dermont in an 80's HBO film called 'Long Gone.' He plays an extremely naive rookie baseball player, and he is just brilliant!
shareI respectfully disagree, I think Bruce Davison and Campbell Scott were much better.

Well, they had more and better scenes to establish their characters with.
One of the most memorable and heart-rending moments for me in this movie is our last glimpse of John before he dies, lying alone on a hospital guerney, surrounded by clinical machines and looking terrified. Such a sad, frightening moment.

Funny to see him in Zodiac, looking years older (as well he should). I loved his early little throwaway line when he's trying to read the paper and he just skims over the medical terminology. He's going on and says something like "...and blah de blah blah...."
Yeah, I just saw that movie last week myself.
Pretty sure the grey at the temples and beer belly were fake, though.

He was one of them, but M.V.P was Davison, I feel. But Mulroney's brief contribution was excellent - so believable - and one reason why the last scene hits very, very hard.
shareDermot was HOT and funny.....and later, sad. Luvd him in this
