Films on the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s

I'd like to list the films which cover the AIDS epidemic, especially the 1980s.

Please add any that I have not listed here:

And the Band Played On (1993) imdb.com/title/tt0106273

We Were Here (2011) imdb.com/title/tt1787837

This lovely, warm-hearted documentary is now on Netflix, Amazon Instant and Prime, and DVD. Here is the Amazon Instant link: amazon.com/gp/product/B007VG24HS

Longtime Companion (1989) imdb.com/title/tt0100049

Angels in America (2003) imdb.com/title/tt0318997

Others?

I would also add "Parting Glances" and "Its My Party" (1996).

Documentaries: How to Survive A Plague (2012) and United in Anger (have not seen this one yet.

Please also watch House of Numbers and The Other Side of AIDS, two great documentaries. Sorry, but I cannot help but also recommend my favorite book on the subject, The Stonewall Experiment by Ian Young.

Their were one or two in the mid-1980s (although they technically might be TV Movie as opposed to one that got a theatrical release)/

Parting Glances --- Independent shot in 1984 and released in 1986 -- is probably one of the first (in America). Buddies -- released in 1985 -- is another Independent film. An Early Frost (TV Movie, 1985) was released not long after Buddies.

A Virus Knows No Morals (1986) is an Independent dark comedy/satire made in Germany. Probably the first German film about AIDS/HIV.

The Ryan White Story (TV Movie, 1989) based on the true story of a young boy who becomes infected (via infected blood used to treat his hemophilia).

American network TV was generally afraid of dealing with the issue. Even the generally cutting edge/liberal Star Trek franchise get nervous about dealing with the prejudice and hysteria that existed.

The TV series Designing Women did one of the first (and probably best) AIDS/HIV episodes ("Killing All The Right People" Second Season Episode 1987).

I cannot watch that movie. It is so grim and upsetting.

The only way I could watch that movie was very, very drunk.

"Don't call me 'honey', mac."
"Don't call me 'mac'... HONEY!"

The best I have seen is the French film Les témoins (The Witnesses) from 2007. A wonderful ensemble drama set in Paris during the early days of the epidemic.
