Why did the Help receive so much more recognition than this film?

I'm watching it again now on cable and can't agree with you more. I think this is a truly excellent and overlooked film. Terrific acting and writing. So moving and real...almost like a documentary.

I disagree. Although it's the one based off of a historical event, Miriam herself is a fictional character--as is Odessa and the daughter...etc

The aside about the husband being asked to join the white council was badly worked in. If they had that, they needed to have the council reviewing police handling of the boycott activities already or something.

And it was not explained why the girl decided to go on the bus risking getting attacked.

So I'd say the help had better scripting. It flowed overall better.
