If given the chance....

would you want to see a remake of Record of Lodoss War? I mean keep the general storyline the same, but have it done in entirely new dialogue, animation, etc. I love RoLW to death(my favorite anime still) and love the classic feel of 90's animation. I think that if a remake were done right, it could be just as awesome as the original. I felt like the Chronicles of the Heroic Knight arc failed to do that, in the beginning and even with the continued events after the war was over.

I think the only problem with doing a remake would be trying to use all the original voice actors/actresses(when I mean "original," I'm only talking about the English dub). If you had to decide which new VA's would do the voices of Parn, Deedlit, Ashram, etc., who would you choose? I honestly have no idea.

New English voice actress for Deedlit - I think Grey DeLisle (Wasp in Ultimate Avengers, Sif in Hulk vs. Thor) would be the best choice, but I'm sure that someone like Susan Eisenberg, Jennifer Hale, or Kari Wahlgren could play the part equally well.

Parn - not sure. Nolan North maybe? Or Josh Keaton? Or Yuri Lowenthal?

Ashram - I'm leaning towards Steve Blum

As interesting as a remake of LODOSS WAR would be, I really don't see it happening; I don't think many people remember LODOSS that much anymore, although it does have its share of loyal fans.

As for voice recasting, that's too difficult for me to say because LODOSS WAR OVA is a dub that I enjoy unreservedly, even though it does come across as stiff in some places. Even then, I can't imagine anybody other than Lisa Ortiz or John Knox as Deedlit and Ashram. I really like Billy Regan as Parn, but moreso in the OVA than in the TV series; there were a few rough moments from him in the OVA but at least he showed a lot more enthusiasm and energy than his TV counterpart.

Lodoss War is still pretty popular and has an enduring following in Japan and elsewhere. Its allready seen novels, at least 3 manga, and one, or more console games, not to mention three anime series now. And an RPG on top of all the rest.

Sooner or later someone will take a try at either a new anime or a live action version. Its about due for one really.
