Where does this movie take place??

If someone could answer this question (with evidence) that would be AMAZING.

I think it's Angola, cuz of angola flag and some portuguese words are found on the background. They are going to the Namibia limits, so I think it's Angola.

I am inclined to believe it is in Africa because of the diamond mind, and all the african-africans working the mines. However I am entirely confused by the german/russian/spanish/french accents that the characters put on, plus while doing the muddled accent, some speak spanish...so I have no idea, I'd like an answer as well...

I refuse to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed man...

Yeah, the "the diamond mind" LOL LOL LOL

Study history...The movie takes place in Angola when the revolutionary MPLA forces were battling other political factions vying for government control. Cuban and Soviet(Russian) soldiers and advisors came to the aid of the MPLA, which was attepting to set up a Marxist-Lennist form of government, hence the Russian/Spanish accents in the film. The German accents may have come from East German advisors in the country as well.

After the overthrow of colonial Portugal's government by a socialist-inspired military coup, Angola's nationalist parties began to negotiate for independence in January 1975. An agreement was reached with the Portuguese government, with independence to be declared in November 1975. Almost immediately, a civil war broke out between MPLA, UNITA and FNLA, exacerbated by foreign intervention. Upon independence from Portugal in 1975, Angola's capital and nominal government came under the one-party rule of the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA). South Africa soon became involved in the Angolan conflict, ostensibly to protect its interests in its territory of South West Africa, present-day Namibia. In turn, the Soviet Union began to significantly increase military aid to MPLA, providing armored vehicles, aircraft, and advisors, while large numbers of Cuban troops were airlifted by Soviet transport planes into Angola in an undisguised effort to tip the military balance in favour of the MPLA. By October 1975, MPLA and Cuban forces took control of Luanda, and much of the country's infrastructure, forcing UNITA forces to revert to guerrilla actions. The MPLA declared itself unilaterally to be the de facto government of the country when independence was formally declared in November, with Agostinho Neto as the first President.

I was an extra in this movie (even though my scene was cut) and can therefore confirm that the diamond scene getting stolen (I was a security guard) was filmed just outside Johannesburtg in South Africa. Fairly safe to assume then that many other scenes would have been filmed there as they had proper facilities, actors, resources available but cheap to film in due to currency exchange rates.

south Africa said so in an Brandon lee bio I watched, some where. probably youtube...

I was thinking Africa too though with all the different nationalities and locations represented it's anyone's guess.

IMDb says it was filmed in Germany, Namimbia and South Africa.

At one time Cuba soldiers spent years playing Vietnam in a revolution in Angola(which is north of Namimbia). The red deserts look like the Kalahari desert which is huge and in both South Africa and Namimbia - both of which have diamonds.

The Skeleton Coast (where they were supposed to be going) is the Atlantic coast of Namimbia.

Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria.

You can see the old communist Angolan flag on a bunch of the military bases they attack. So, Angola.
