Mairon Bennett was miscast...

...not to be mean, but Mairon Bennett was so bad in this movie that she kind of ruined the movie for me. She was so wooden and bland in this movie that, at one point, I found myself groaning every time she was on the screen...which was a lot.

I understand that she was only 13 or 14 at the time, but that just doesn't seem like a good enough excuse in this case. Especially since Sarah Polley (who is 3 years younger than her) did an excellent job and upstaged her every time they were on screen together.

I'm guessing Kevin Sullivan choose her because she had a certain vulnerability that "fit" the Jane from the book. But, come on! You mean to tell me that SHE was the BEST they could find?

She definitely had some dullness to her that didn't help the viewer buy the whole "strong willed" character aspect...

She favored Megan Follow in looks a little bit.
