im sorry but i have to say this!!

Why does everyone keep saying remake the film.NO THEY SHOULDN'T! I mean okay so the Kemp brothers dont look like the real Krays or talk like them or do exactly as them but that wasn't the point of this film.If you wanna know about the real Krays then watch the History channel if you wanna hear the way really talk then eavesdrop on a londoners conversation...But for a movie about real people I think they done a really good job with it and if you dont like this movie then dont complain to us if you want the real Krays then read their book, watch a documentry we dont care.I'm taking a stand and saying that they done a good job of the movie.AND THAT'S ALL I HAVE TO SAY!

The film's a good film for what it is, a well made popular piece, but their rise and fall would make a good story for a completely different film. This one was so heavily influenced by their family and associates, and since they were still alive at the time there was quite a bit of fictionalizing and sugarcoating.
I wouldn't mind seeing another treatment of the subject, not necessrily a remake of the same film.

I've read about the Krays and I always hear that Ron did push Reg about, like he always bossing him around.

A new and historically accurate film or mini-series, perhaps a documentary, about the Kray brothers could be very interesting and absorbing. I don't know much about the actual Kray twins, but I've seen Peter Medak's film several times and always thought it was only nominally about them. The whole film strikes me as a fictional story about a woman (Billie Whitelaw as Violet Kray) doing her best with little to nothing to work with and nobody but her sister and other women to rely on, set within the story of the Kray brothers. Reading comments here about the family members and the brothers themselves having approval over the script makes me wonder whether that caused Medak to abandon historical accuracy and make his own excellent film, anchored by the story of Ron and Reg.

The film could have been called 'How to Go to Prison for the Rest of Your Life'.

They are supposed to be doing a remake with ray winstone playing them both, it would be good to show what happened when they went to prison, and also show a lot more of what actually went on with other things they did. More of the rest of the gang too. A lot of the film is bulled up as in movies this always happens.

I heard about the remake a while ago and I don't think they should, fine make another film about the kray brothers that would be good only this time show a lot more than what was shown in 1990 film the krays from childhood to prison(was a brilliant film by the way) as for ray whinstone playing the krays, it is a terrible Idea he's to old to play the krays besides why use cgi for making a double, ronnie's appearanced changed with mental health probs and meds (could have been something else) if they are going to do it get twins to play the twins it's easy there are many of them about.

p.s maybe Peter Medak or somebody else should do it, guy ritchie makes comedy gangster films not serious ones which is not suitable for the krays they were real east end gangsters hard men GANGSTERS not comedians.

And show the truth based on ron's and reggie's books and firm members memoirs.

Danny Dyer would make a good Kray twin, hes a good actor too.

Great Film Well made A film you will watch over and over agian but once you read the book you will see the movie isent all correct. But awell its a great Movie it has the idea a bit.

But as if says at the end of the book the Krays will be Showing to Generations to come there will be re-makes of the Movie but not one anytime soon maybe in the next 20 years or Something.

I'm not sure which book is being referred to by so many posters; so many associates and members of the Kray family wrote so many, and everyone had their own agenda. But since most of the principles have passed on, and this film was so obviously biased and flawed--despite it's many fine points--it would be refreshing to see a popular update. God knows Capone has been remade to death!

Ditto, I agree with you completely. Theres absolutely no point in fixing something that doesn't need to be fixed

I think a more accurate, and fair, representation of the film would be welcomed.

While this film is good I don't think it's really ABOUT The Krays, more BASED on the most famous stories about them.

Maybe get in a big name director to do it well, and not just make a disposable gangster film?
