'King of New York' vs. 'New Jack City'

Both were early '90s releases about a New York drug lord's rise to (and fall from) power. Incidentally, Wesley Snipes is in both movies.

Having not yet seen King of New York, I hope it's nothing like New Jack City, because I thought that film was utter crap.

King may not be a great movie, but it's a hell of a lot better than New Jack.

Both movies are great to me but King is better!

They are chocolate and coconut pie compared to each other. Both are similar in their purpose (drug lord movie that works as well as a solid anti drug message,) but they are both very different and hard to choose. I like them both.

New Jack is more watchable but King's more stylish. Walken's the better actor and had the better Drug Lord character (Snipes was a hardass but he wasn't likeable while Walken was both and an epic MF'er.) New Jack had the more likeable cops (Ice T owned that role,) but King had some good action and better actors.

I lean more twords King of NY more mainly due to Walken and how it was a film of style as much as substance. NJ was more of a film made to highlight the problems of crack and Van Peeble's attempt at bringing back Blacksplotation movies. Both worked but KNY just does it more for me.
