That thought this movie really sucked. Sure some of the shootout scenes were good, but that's about it. The characters weren't really convincing, the dialogue sucked, and I just thought they were trying to tell us what they were rather than showing us what they were. I really found this to be one boring ass movie.

Just watched this and Fear City. Main thing I was wondering was, what is it with Ferrara and these complitely idiotic cop characters. I mean in King Of New York these guys/cops, espcecially Caruso's character, go literally insane because Frank White is killing few of his competitors in the crimeworld. I would understand the blinding hate if he was killing innocent people.
And in fear city we have this laughable badass cop in Billy Dee Williams, who instead of chasing the dangerous serial killer spends all his time harrassing the people (Berenger, Scalia) who are also trying to catch the killer and protect the strippers.
If he want's to critizise the NYPD thats fine. But these characters are so ridiculous and badly written it ruins the whole movie(s).

shareI agree that the movie was not perfect; however, it was by no means boring. Christopher Walken nailed it as the ruthless but insightful crime boss, as did all the other actors in their roles. Plus, although I've seen some violent films in my time, the violence in "King of New York" still somewhat surprised me at times.
