The axing scene.

That scene was totally shocking and I liked the scenes leading up to it! Eerie!
The actress Lee Garlington(Peggy Blankinship),was great in it.She looked so believeable! A good movie,but...,I didn't care for Barbara Hershey's acting.Kind of on the "goofy" side.

The real Candy was a little "goofy". I think Barbara Hershey did an excellent job in portraying her.

reply

She sure did.It was a good movie!Morbidly upsetting,but....,good. I still think that other actress was GOOD too.She really looked like,"she was out of it!"

I saw this on tv and it said the film was edited for violence.

I think they might well have cut the most important scene of the whole movie - the murder! I was waiting for it and it never came.

We saw the woman she murdered come into the room with an axe and warning her of stay away from her husband and then it just cut to the next scene at court!

I'm SURE there must have been a scene where she wrenches the axe away from the woman and turns on her. Am I right? And was this scene cut or did it never exist?

reply

It is quite a prolonged and bloody attack, and very disturbing. Hershey is getting the crap kicked out of her for quite some time and then gets the axe away and hits her once. She tries to leave but then the woman attacks Hershey again. This time Hershey knocks her to the floor with the butt of the axe and then hits her several times. Then we see her taking a shower (fully clothed) and washing the blood off. And then it cuts to the courtroom.

Thanks for telling me that andy.

Bloody channel 5 have essentially taken out the most important scene of the film then! No wonder it made little sense after that.

What utter edit-happy puritans!

reply

Yes, very disturbing. And the most troubling part to me is the moans from Peggy which just gradually stop. But the ax wielding keeps on. Ick.

Here is a clip of the film, with some of the axing scenes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AoNKCqtDsms

That scene is very, very disturbing agreed. It kind of haunts you after you see it.
The moaning bothered me too! It chilled your skin.
Plus, I don't want to imagine the reaction of the person who found her after the killing. Seeing a body that's been struck 41 times with an ax?

She controlled the animals of the forest even the trees seeming to do her bidding.

reply

I truly agree with you.Whew!,I bet that hurt terribly at the beginning and then had to endure it over and over! WOW!

It's not the easyest film to watch there are a little parts in the film if you buy it on dvd after she knocks her to the floor there is a shot of peggys home then they go back to the scean she is still swinging the ax candy !!

reply

It WAS a very powerful scene. What affected me most was when the victim was gritting her teeth and saying she couldn't stop (swinging the axe).

reply

The film was on Sky True Movies last night and was rated PG!
Of course, there was no axing scene but still a good little movie.

reply

It was shown on UK channel 5 (now just called Five) and they often edit whole scenes out if they contain sex or violence and they stupidly show them in the afternoon instead of uncut after the 9pm watershed.

They even lower the sound on swear words.

It's an utterly useless channel for watching films on.

I usually only watch True Movie channel when there is nothing else on, but i thought this was a really good film, and i agree the axing scene was good and it was really eerie leading up to it

I was waiting for my hearse what came next was so much worse
