This has been a favorite of mine for years. I have it on tape and watch it every holiday season. It never gets old for me.

I saw it for the first time (to my recollection, I might have seen it as a toddler) last year and loved it. I watched it twice. But it doesn't seem that TVOne is doing their countdown to Christmas like last year. So it's even less likely that it'll air. They are airing Christmas programs here and there though so it's still a chance.

A co-worker told me that she had fond memories of this film during a conversation we were having about Esther Rolle, one of my favorite actresses since I love Good Times and Driving Miss Daisy. I was thinking of getting it for her for Christmas since it's hard to find. As the years go by and television becomes more bland and corporate these titles are not getting played anymore.

Completely agree. They don't make programs like this and they are airing them less each year. If you can, you should get this for your friend. I know if I saw it I would have to pick it up right away. I like Esther Rolle too. She was great in Down in the Delta.

After several years of working where I work with this woman I have finally gotten around to ordering it for her! It will be a surprise for her as she didn't ask me to order it and she hasn't mentioned the film in awhile lol! Hopefully it will make her and her family smile this season. And it was filmed in Chicago! (We work and live in the southwest suburbs)

Aww, that's so sweet! I'm sure she will love it. Nice to hear that you were actually able to see it through. Warms my heart. Cool connection there too. I find when you watch a movie that filmed in your state/town/area it adds a special element to the viewing experience.

Rest in Peace Nelson Mandela, Madiba we love you!
