They had been through a great deal as children. They had fought IT. That sort of thing would bond you for life. They hadn't seen each other in many years so naturally, they were overjoyed to see each other. They also knew that IT was still there to be dealt with.
I agree that you put too much thought into it.
All those scenes implied, is that they loved each other as close friends who were happy to be reunited.
