I wish they would re-release the miniseries as it was originally aired.

I know the cut footage isn't critical to the plot, but the two-sided DVD version is kind of sloppily put together and it's kind of annoying that there are scenes missing from Part 2 all the same, from a film history perspective if nothing else. It just doesn't flow well when Side 1 suddenly ends and Side 2 just plops you right in with adult George arriving at the grave.

I really hope they restore the credits as they were originally done for the Blu-Ray release if that ever happens.

I'm watching the DVD cut right now - was just thinking side one ends abruptly and then side two starts really randomly....

What scenes are missing on the DVD that were aired originally on TV?

At the end of Part 1 after Mrs. Uris screams there's supposedly a laugh from Pennywise and a "to be continued" leading into the credits (I haven't seen the VHS in a long time so I can't remember).

At the beginning of Part 2, the opening credits are repeated, and we see the following scenes:

-George's taxi driving over a bridge which pans down to a shot of the canal underneath, where we hear a sinister growling sound.
-George arriving outside the Derry Inn.
-A receptionist named Bettyruth walking down the stairs looking ecstatic and beaming at the arriving guest. She has a few copies of The Glowing on the desk and the two have a short conversation. She is clearly fan-girling over George Denbrough. ("Bettyruth is one word. Bettyruth!")
-George in his hotel room looking out the window. "What the hell am I doing here?"
-George back in the taxi driving through Derry. The driver talks about what has changed around there. George asks "What about the Paramount?" "See for yourself." George sees the Paramount theater with its "Retail space for lease sign" and sighs to himself.
-The driving shot leading up to the graveyard scene.

The reason these scenes were cut from the DVD was presumably because there are still some credits playing throughout.

It really doesn't bother me. I would have been happy with it being two separate parts on the disc but I am not precious about the cut scene. I had forgotten about the missing content TBH. And seeing it again I can see why. I doesn't add anything but more recognition of Bill being a local boy done good. But that had already been done six times over with the other kids bar Mike.

I'll miss the cliffhanger aspect of course, but I can always stop the blu-ray and play it from that spot the next night if that's what's important.

I wish someone would produce a 10 or 12 part cable miniseries that's actually faithful to the novel, adding nothing, changing nothing and leaving nothing out.

Then read the goddarn book if that's what you want. Besides that would be impossible to copy the book one on one and you'd need a hell of lot more than 12 episodes.

I remember in part 2, there was a scene where young Bev was wearing a dress and the blood erupts from the sink again. I saw this scene back in October 2003, when it was airing on Sci-Fi, but never again in any other airings, it just skips that scene and only shows the other two.

As far as I know the tv-aired version of the mini-series was the most complete, containing all the dialogue. When released on vhs (namely in UK, NZ and Australia, It was truncated with over half-an hour of footage. The dvd release was only missing about 5 minutes of credits and dialogue. Maybe the one of the 4 blood sink scenes in this tv print you are talking about (yes, 4) was cut by censorship???

I really do remember a scene like that, she was wearing an old 50s/60s vintage dress with the white smocked collar, like most girls from the 50s and 60s wore and she looked kinda like she was wearing the same dress that Alice wore in The People Under The Stairs.

Maybe it was cut because that scene had more gallons of blood, than the other 3 scenes. The scenes are

1st: She hears voices, the blood first erupts, and she alerts her dad. (Part 1)
2nd: She is setting in the corner, in her PJs and the blood returns after cleaning it up. (Part 2)
3rd: This might be the scene I was talking about where she's wearing a dress. (Part 2)
4th: This is the one where she's dressed in tomboyish attire and the other 6 boys are with her. (Part 2)

The dress looked kinda like this. Not sure, it's been almost 14 years since I saw the uncut TV version on Syfy. (formally Sci-Fi)
