The Shiva-Pennywise Drawing!

This character is a true marvel and reveals the real genius of Stephen King.

Pennywise, the titular evil demonic shape-shifting monstrous 'clown' also known simply as 'It,' is a real new-age terror and Tim Curry portrays him with an eerie glee.

The cast including the always-wonderful John Ritter is terrific.

Pennywise is, in fact, so strange and a 'guilty-pleasure' as he stalks Americans (kids, adults, whoever) in the sewers, libraries, streets (wherever), that it is tempting to compare this King 'invention' with metaphysics-rich world-mythology avatars/deities/characters such as Shiva (the Hindu god of destruction) and Black Manta (DC Comics' bizarre under-water menace and enemy of the aquatic-wonder and superhero Aquaman).

Here's a mock-dialogue about 'pedestrian-terror' between Pennywise and Shiva inspired by this great TV miniseries (which every now-and-then pops up on YouTube).

SHIVA: Are you the Devil?
PENNYWISE: Why, are you Christian?
SHIVA: Hinduism, I savor the magic of Christian denominations (e.g., Catholicism).
PENNYWISE: Magic is great, but I prefer illusions and freak-shows.
SHIVA: How bizarre. Do you watch horror films?
PENNYWISE: I like Friday the 13th!
SHIVA: Why do you stalk random Americans?
PENNYWISE: Pedestrians in America take conveniences...for granted.
SHIVA: You seem rather expressive about anarchy.
PENNYWISE: I can't stand 'suits.'
SHIVA: Ya know, Leatherface wears a suit.
PENNYWISE: I'm not a big fan of Texas Chainsaw Massacre films.
SHIVA: I suppose you like Halloween festivity.
PENNYWISE: I like costumes, but I adore the circus!
SHIVA: No circus would worship you, Pennywise!
PENNYWISE: Hail, Shiva!
