Want super impressed - it was an ok crime thriller. I am curious, though. The Departed was based off of a Japanese trilogy called Internal Affairs. This movie also involves an internal affairs cop who (as is dismissively mentioning) went through training with the cop who turns out to be a bad guy. Given their similarities and the shared name,I assume this is the original American version, and The Departed is the second. Can anyone confirm this.

Granted, I'll probably go to Wikipedia immediately after writing this to find out, but any insider information is appreciated.

that movie was called infernal affairs and it was from hong kong. you are way off. Internal Affairs's story is nothing like those other 2 movies.

The Departed is based on Infernal Affairs, a Hong Kong epic.

This has nothing to do with the above.
